Can you tell us more about your bible study?

It's Catholic

Scripture is not easy to interpret. Anyone who reads Scripture attentively knows that. St. Philip asked an Ethiopian fellow who was reading the Prophet Isaiah: "Do you understand what you are reading?", and the Ethiopian answered with a lot of common sense: "How can I unless someone instructs me?"

In his first letter to Timothy, St. Paul tells us that the Church is "the pillar and foundation of the Truth," and in Ephesians 3 he adds that "the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the principalities and authorities in the heavens."

The Lord did not build "churches", but one Church known by her four marks: One, because Christ founded one Church who happens to be his bride and Christ has only one Bride. Holy, because she is his body and He sanctifies her. Catholic, because she is to make disciples of all nations and thus become the Universal Church (that's what the word catholic means), and Apostolic, because she is built upon Peter and the Apostles by the will of Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit.

So Christ, the Son of God, espoused Himself to one Church and willed to have us as his adopted Children to be reared by a loving, tender and holy Mother in the expectation of heaven.  In this Household of God, He gives us the Heavenly Manna and prepares us for union with Him.

This Bible Study presupposes these truths of the Faith and upholds the Magesterial teaching of the Catholic Church. I will do my best to explain what the Church teaches. I delight in her teachings for they are truly the words of the Lord, the promised hidden treasure that He left for us to discover.

Come and share in this joy.
